-KEALAN PATRICK BURKE,, Bram Stoker award-winning author of The Turtle Boy, The Hides, and Vessels; award-winning editor of Taverns of the Dead

The Boston College Chronicle ran a front-page story in its January 19th edition. Read it here.

The Off the Shelf newsletter, which goes out to thousands of libraries across the country, is featuring Bloodstone this week. Check it out right here.

“Bloodstone surprised me more then once…just when the plot lines seemed to be spinning out of control the author, masterfully, pulled it all back again. The climax was exciting and unexpected…Kenyon is one to watch.”

- ABOUT.COM

“Bloodstone is a wonderfully chilling evil ghost story, complete with the dead rising and taking revenge on the hypocritical living. If you like that kind of stuff — and wow, do I! — the novel delivers. Buy this exceptional novel and read the shocker of a twist yourself…here’s a clue to the speculative romance industry: get yourself a copy and take some notes.”

In case nobody noticed, it’s Friday the 13th. I’m wondering what superstitions people have, and what scares them the most. Do you avoid cracks in the sidewalk? Afraid of deep water? Get that little voice in your head that says “jump,” when standing at the railing on the 10th floor of a building?

Me, I’ve got my own hang-ups and fears. I’ve heard that “jump” voice more than once. I’m deathly afraid of spiders, and make my wife kill one if I see it in the house. I have some superstitions about writing too. For example, I don’t like to tell people about plots I’m working on—I’m afraid the story will lose its mojo. I can’t write on anything but a computer. And I can only feel properly inspired with a severed head in my top drawer (ok, just kidding about that last one).

In honor of Friday the 13th, I’m asking for responses from anyone and everyone on this topic. Leave me a comment telling me about your fears and superstitions (if you don’t see a comment box below, click here to post, or view others’ comments).

Come on, step to the plate! Give me your deepest, darkest fears, or your strangest superstitions. We’ve all got ‘em. Let yours out of the closet.

“A gripping novel that relies on intelligent writing to send chills down one’s spine, rather than flat-out gore. And it works. Mr. Kenyon’s storytelling is fresh, his voice strong and creative, and readers won’t want to put this book down. Be sure to keep the lights on even after you finish Bloodstone, because Nate Kenyon’s first book will linger after the last word is read.”

Official release date for Nate Kenyon’s debut novel Bloodstone.

I received my first author copies of Bloodstone today, on the official release date of the novel. It’s a real thrill to hold the book in my hands. Doesn’t quite seem real–as if it were written by someone else, and they made a mistake and slapped my name on the cover.

Supposedly copies are going out to libraries and distributors all over the country at this very moment. Bloodstone should be showing up on the shelves here and there during the next couple of weeks.

I really have no clue where they’ll end up. Some libraries will order copies, some won’t. Same with bookstores. But do me a favor, and look for them wherever you are, and if you don’t find a copy, ask for it. If you order a copy and get the chance to read it, drop me a line and let me know what you think.

I’m lining up more signings and appearances daily, so keep an eye on this site for the latest in my tour schedule.
